MENS SHED WORK TO DATE!
The Mooloolah Community Men’s Shed Inc. is at last becoming a reality!
In 2018, Bernard Verwayen OAM (JP Qual) met Andrew Wallace Federal Member for Fisher at a Volunteer function, and asked if there was any Federal money available to build a Men’s Shed at the rear of the Mooloolah Valley Community Centre. Andrew said “Leave it with me” .
About a month later, Andrew came back with the answer “If the LNP wins the Election, they will give you $250,000.00 to build a Men’s Shed in the Mooloolah Valley. And the rest, as they say “is history”. The LNP won the Federal Election and Andrew honoured his promise to our community.
An interim Committee was formed, with John Holland being voted in as the President with a Committee of 5 local men and Kim Gebbie as Secretary. No males put their hand up for the Secretary’s position, so Kim very kindly offered to step in and assist them. Kim has been busy setting up the Men’s Shed administration office from her home, and applying for grants on behalf of the MCMS Inc.
The Mooloolah Community Men’s Shed was Incorporated in 2020 and now has an ABN. The contract for the Shed has been signed by MVCA Inc with Sunshine Sheds & Garages Little Mountain, Sunshine Coast and work will begin at the end of October 2020.
Membership of MCMS Inc. is $50.00 per annum
